A retail pack should be described as a complete saleable unit, including its accessories, inserts and instructions.
Practical Considerations
Separate piece counts from complete-unit counts. A container set described as twelve pieces may include six lids and six bases. Similar ambiguities occur with paired products, nested sets and refill packs.
Suggested Procedure
- Write an itemized contents list.
- State the number of complete saleable units.
- Compare the sample package with the quotation.
Illustrative Example
For a notebook bundle, record whether the pack includes three notebooks or one notebook with two accessories. Both may be promoted as a three-piece set.
Points to Check
Keep photographs and decorative props out of the contents list unless the supplier confirms they are included.
